In this beginner guitar lesson, we teach the 4 most important beginner guitar chords you must know. 90% of popular music (rock, pop, country etc) uses only four chords. These are crucial for the beginner guitar player to know. With these four guitar chords you will be able to play many of your favorite songs on guitar.
The four chords we learn here are G Major, C add9 (C Major), E minor (with bonus Emin7), and D Major. Here are the video times for these chords.
We provide tips on how to change guitar chords smoothly and quickly, and we also cover how to use a guitar capo to change the key of these chords so that you can play guitar to your favorite songs (scroll down to see a list of over 200 songs)

Change the Key of the Song
By using a capo, you can play these same chord shapes, but easily play in other keys, just by placing the capo on a different fret. Here is a chart which chords you are playing when using the capo. It is important to understand that in the original key of G, each chord also has a number value (signified with Roman Numerals):

C=IV
D=V
Emin=Vi
