Van Halen At The 2015 Billboard Music Awards. This year at the annual Billboard Music Award show, Van Halen performed on stage as the opener to the evening. Similar to ACDC’s appearance at this year’s Grammy Awards, Van Halen kicked things off hard with the classic rock song “Panama”, which is one of the group’s biggest hits.

This performance was the group’s third television appearance in support of the upcoming tour, but the first on an awards show. They have previously appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Ellen DeGeneres, and they seem to be getting more comfortable at each performance. Eddie Van Halen looks happy and healthy and his playing is as good as ever, his brother Alex Van Halen and son Wolfgang are solid as the rhythm section. David Lee Roth’s singing has noticeably improved since his other recent television performances, but his stage antics have not tamed down at all. The same could be said of his wardrobe choices. Last night’s outfit looked like a cross between a newsboy from the 1920’s and a scuba diver.

Van Halen kicks off their North American tour on July 5 in Seattle, Washington at the White River Amphitheater. They recently released their first live album with Roth on vocals called “Tokyo Dome Live in Concert”.
