Blues Legend BB King Dies at 89
It’s a sad day in the world of music. Blues Legend BB King has died today at the age of 89. According to his attorney, King died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40pm in Las Vegas. BB King was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in the 1980’s and had been battling health concerns for the past few months. He was hospitalized in April of this year due to dehydration related to the disease. Earlier this month it was stated on his Facebook page that he was back home, and receiving hospice care.
BB King was born in 1925 in Mississippi and began performing in the 1940’s. His career spanned 7 decades and he became a legend synonymous with the Blues.
Throughout his career, he recorded over 40 albums, won 15 Grammies and received numerous honors and awards including being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He has played with countless other artists including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and U2, and his influence stretches across generations and genres. BB King was truly one the greatest.
