Top 5 Reasons Your Guitar Chords Don’t Sound Good

Today’s beginner guitar lesson will explain the Top 5 Reasons Your Guitar Chords Don’t Sound Good. This is probably the most important guitar lesson we have ever posted. If you are a beginner guitar player you have probably felt the frustration of playing guitar chords and not having them sound good. Maybe your chords sound muffled or “clunky” or maybe you hear that annoying buzzing sound. In this guitar lesson, we explain the Top 5 Reasons Your Guitar Chords Don’t Sound Good.

I have taught guitar for many years and given literally thousands of guitar lessons to beginner guitar students. Through my experience as a guitar teacher, I have noticed these are the top 5 reasons people struggle with their guitar chords. There are definitely more than 5 reasons, but without seeing a student face-to-face, I can not tell exactly what is going on in your specific circumstance. However, after watching this video, you will probably discover one or more of these issues is causing your guitar chords to sound bad. By making some simple changes in your technique, your guitar chords can go from clunky and buzzy to full, smooth and beautiful!

Some of the reasons discussed in this video may be ones you have thought of before, but some others may surprise you. For example, you may think it’s all about your left hand 9fretting hand), but some problems might be coming from your strumming hand.

In this lesson, we use a Cmajor chord for the example, but the principles demonstrated here apply to all guitar chords. You can watch the video lesson here

Hopefully this video lesson helped you make your guitar chords sound better. If you are still having problems, you can ask a question in the comments below or email me directly at info@studio33guitarlessons.com
