How to Play BRIGHT by Echosmith – Easy Beginner Guitar Song

How to Play BRIGHT by Echosmith on guitar

In this beginner guitar lesson/ tutorial from Studio33Guitar, we teach you how to play Bright by Echosmith on guitar.

Echosmith is an American band formed in  2009 in Los Angeles. The band is a family band consisting of four siblings: Graham, Sydney, Noah, and Jamie Sierota. Echosmith signed to Warner Bros Records in 2012.

The song “Bright” is a fairly simple song, that uses only a handful of easy beginner guitar chords. The chords used in the song are Gmaj, Cadd9, Emin7, Dmaj and A7.

The original song is in the key of Gb, but the band makes it easier to play in that key by tuning the guitars down to Eb tuning. That means each string on the guitar is tuned down one semi tone (Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb). With the guitar tuned down this way, the song can be played using the regular chord shapes G,C,Em and D, but they will sound as Gb,B, Ebm and Db

For this lesson, we will stay in standard tuning. If you want to play along with the recording, you will need to tune down to Eb.

The trickiest part of this song is the strumming pattern. In this video we will break down the strumming pattern and show exactly how it is played.
