Three Girls, One Guitar!

Three girls, one guitar? That’s right, a trio of girls from the Philippines are causing a buzz with their latest video that shows the three of them playing a single guitar at the same time. The video, which was filmed using a GoPro camera mounted on the headstock of the guitar and posted on the GoPro YouTube channel has received over 120,000 views in its first few days.

The group calls themselves “Triple Fret” and are comprised of three friends Marga Abejo, Iqui Vinculado and Jenny de Vera who are all formally trained in classical guitar. Triple Fret performs throughout the Philippines and normally each plays their own classical guitar in their performances.

In this latest GoPro video, the girls perform a traditional classical guitar piece called “Calypso” on one guitar. Iqui plays the melody on  the high strings while Marga plays the lower melody. Jenny then joins and plays the bass notes. The result is beautiful and captivating.
